Published 8 months agoΒ β€’Β 4 min read

This week we're covering short form content workflow, data analysis, deadstock fashion and much more. Thanks so much for reading along!

Some quick housekeeping. If you're here looking for last week's newsletter on athleticwear, you can grab that here.

Quick note, if you are waiting for the hoodies breakdown the full one is coming in the next newsletter - the wholesale blanks companies I reference are madeblanks.com and blanksbythirteen.com tho to get you rolling.

🎬 CONTENT WORKFLOW 🎬

I've had a lot of questions about my content workflow and how I organize videos, and turn video content to written content on my site.

This is a super relevant question. Brands and creators spend a lot of time creating video content, but they often don't put enough effort into repurposing it. Here's my brand content workflow using Notion.

First, I organize my video content. I start with an idea in a specific content category, which I then turn into bullet points and eventually a script to record.

Next, I use Notion AI to immediately go from script to full written article. Using the "improve writing" function, and then use the "make longer" extension to expand it to the desired length. This is particularly useful for creating educational and informative content, especially for email blasts.

One of the most underutilized tools for creators and brands is simply including video content in a regular email with added context. Notion's organizational power, combined with these new AI tools, makes for a killer workflow.

πŸ“Š WHAT'S IN A DROP πŸ“Š

Curious about the data of brand collabs, and the top selling products of hype stores? I break down in this thread how I use Particl for analysis to be able to look at the number of units of a potential collaboration, or evaluate colors and pricing:

An example of the kind of data you can pull in Particl:

πŸ‘— DEADSTOCK πŸ‘—

If you're looking to start a clothing brand or collection, consider launching a deadstock line. A deadstock collection upcycles clothing, which means you rework vintage clothing in bulk for a more unique and sustainable approach. This method is becoming increasingly popular as more and more people become aware of the impact of fast fashion on the environment.

The first step in launching a deadstock clothing collection is to find the right supply. You can hunt through warehouses yourself, or fortunately, there are tons of sites where you can buy pre-sorted lots of 5-20 items in a category, such as Levi's jackets or graphic tees. Alternatively, you can purchase bales, which are essentially partial pallets of categorized and graded-by-quality clothing. These options are great for those who are just starting out and want to experiment with different styles and designs.

Once you have your supply, it's time to get creative. Deadstock clothing is unique in that it has a history and character that new clothing simply doesn't have. To make your collection stand out, you can add embellishments such as washes, embroidery, screen printing, or even make reworks that combine multiple garments into one, like these ones from Frankie.

Deadstock at it's core is going to be a game of warehouse hunting and relationships to unearth unique finds... But if you want to get started at places that have already done some of the curation for you, here's some options in the US and UK/EU.

There's a culture war happening. Burnout, quiet quitting, and a new generation struggling with work while also being addicted to both their phones and the idea life shouldn't be this hard. In a dopamine addled, infinitely complex world, there's voices in people's heads that they need to take their free time, optimize and balance their lives. The very thought that everything is overwhelming has become addictive in itself. For many creatives, work life balance can be the wrong kind of balance....
